5th Avenue Playa del Carmen Shop List
It is the place to be in Playa del Carmen for souvenirs, cheap tourist medicine, clothes and tequila: Calle Quinta Avenida or Fifth Avenue.
There are plenty of shops there to indulge yourself and from exclusive designer stores to the fun cheap T-shirt shops, they are all part of the atmosphere on 5th Avenue. Sit on one of the many terraces and watch the crowd or simply stroll along all the salespeople trying to get your attention and into their shops.

You will find Starbucks, 7-Eleven, McDonalds, and plenty of local restaurants to give you a good taste of Mexican food and cocktails.

Is it safe to shop and enjoy the nightlife on 5th Avenue?
Yes, I believe it is. I am not a person to get scared easily, but I am also realistic, some places are safer than others, that can even be in some areas in your own city. As a world traveller, it is my strong belief to use your common sense everywhere you go. Also on 5th Avenue in Playa del Carmen, Mexico
- Do not get involved with drug vendors
- Do not leave your drink unattended in a night club
- Do not offend people or get involved in fights
- Stay clear of situations where you see the police involved
- Do not trust people by the colour of their eyes
- Do not flash lots of money
- Avoid dark abandoned places
- Keep an eye on your bag and wallet
- Keep an eye on your back when using the ATM
- Try to be in control of your situation always or look like you are in control
But those are all common things you should do everywhere in the world. If you need anything, there is tourist police everywhere, they are there to help you.
